Abstract

Membership in Student organizations (abbreviated ORMAWA) provides various benefits for students but also places the burden of tasks and responsibilities which can disrupt their subjective well-being. This research aims to ascertain how self-compassion and subjective well-being relate to one another in students who are members of ORMAWA in  Surabaya. Participants in this research were 264 people who were ORMAWA members in many universities in the city of Surabaya. Participants were taken by accidental sampling technique. This research used the Pearson product-moment method. The result of the data analysis produces a correlation coefficient value of r = 0,219 with p = 0,000. These results indicated that the relation between self-compassion and subjective well-being is relatively weak. In this research, self-compassion is less substantial in explaining the variation of subjective well-being of ORMAWA students.  The student members of ORMAWA in this study may have other factors or ways to maintain good subjective well-being.
